Greetings! Today I have a card using the Graphic Lace stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. For this card, I inked the once, then rotated it and inked it again. I really like the effect.

I’ve really been trying to use up some of the huge assortment of patterned paper that I have. I like making monochromatic cards using assorted strips of patterned paper. I thought it would fun to make one of these strip cards, and then tone down the patterns a bit with some stenciling. I used the Graphic Lace stencil with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide first. I felt that the stenciling got a bit lost among all the patterns, so I rotated the stencil 90 degrees and then inked it with Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide. Before I used the Rustic Wilderness, I of course had a lot of Lucky Clover ink left on my stencil. So I sprayed it with Salvaged Patina Distress Spray Stain, to alter the color a bit, and flipped it on to some Strathmore Smooth Bristol Cardstock, and that gave me a great background for another card, which I will be sharing soon.
The double stenciling tones down the patterned paper quite a bit. The only thing I don’t love, is that the papers all have different thicknesses, so you can see some obvious lines where the heights differ. I wanted a bold sentiment, so I grabbed the Bold Sayings stamp set from Tim Holtz & Stampers Anonymous ad I stamped it with Shady Lane Versa Fine Clair Ink. There was enough happening on this card, so I left my base white.
The Graphic Lace stencil looks very different here since it’s doubled, and I really like being able to stretch my supplies this way. I’m also happy I used up some patterned paper.
