Hello! I have a fun card today that I’m really excited about. A few months ago, Spellbinders came out with The Pie Collection by Tina Smith. Well, I am a huge fan of pie. Do you remember the book Harold and the Purple Crayon? I love that book, and my favorite part of the book is when Harold offers 9 kinds of pie to the hungry moose and the deserving porcupine. So, these dies brought back memories and made me hungry for pie. I had to have them. My thoughtful best friend Amber knew how much I loved them and purchased the dies for me. So be ready to see some pies! I immediately had to make at least one pie, so I opted to try the Serve a Slice die set first, and make some chocolate mousse pie.

The April release from A Colorful Life Designs is made up mostly of stencils that are coffee or tea related. But there are a few that are just cool designs, including the one I used here, called Hairpin. I thought it was a great pattern that almost mimicked steam. Granted, chocolate mousse pie isn’t served hot, but you get the idea, right? I inked the stencil with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink on Kraft cardstock.
For the pie, I cut the crust from the same Kraft cardstock as the background and used more Frayed Burlap to give it a golden glow. The mousse was cut from a light brown cardstock, the sauce from a dark brown, and I used ivory for the whipped cream. I hand cut a chocolate chip to go in the whipped cream. I wanted the sauce to shine, so I used Iridescent irRESISTibles Pico Embellisher from Imagine, but I didn’t shake it. This was, it was just clear with no iridescence. I cut the word “pie” from the same dark brown but didn’t give it any shine. The other part of the sentiment is from The Greetery’s Buzz-worthy Sentiments. I trimmed the background panel with my Tonic/Tim Holtz Deckle Trimmer. I put it all on to the same color card base as the whipped cream.
I seriously love this pie from Spellbinders. I cannot wait to make more. They are just so cute! And don’t forget to check out the entire April release from A Colorful Life Designs.
