Ladder and Layering Dragonfly

Hello! Today’s card features not only a beautiful stamp and die cut from Hero Arts, but also the very cool Ladder stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I once again got to use up a background that I really didn’t care for, but I managed to turn it into something cool.

I think the background started off as a roll-off print mixed with some ink smooshing…but I’m not positive. It had some interesting colors, but nothing really substantial. I inked the Ladder stencil with VersaMark Ink and then applied Salvaged Patina Distress Embossing Glaze on the wet areas. I love how after it’s melted that it looks like glass. I wanted even more shine, so I flicked on some Cottage Ivy Fireworks! Spray. It doesn’t stick to the areas that are embossed, so I just buff it off.

I stamped the Color Layering Dragonfly first with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne, the next layer was done with VersaMagic Ink in Pixie Dust, followed by the last layer which has VersaMagic in Turquoise Gem and Pretty Petunia. Then I heat embossed the entire thing with a Kaleidoscope Glitter embossing Powder from Stampendous. Next, I fussy cut it out. My sentiment was made with Hero Arts’ Thinking of You die, which I cut twice- once out of white cardstock and once out of pink. I stacked and adhered them together. I inked the card base with Pixie Dust Ink to match the dragonfly’s wings and added some iridescent confetti sequins to the background.

I managed to take a background that had mottled, almost muddy colors and elevate it to something much prettier. By pulling out the colors that were in the background and highlighting them, it made the whole thing much more appealing.
