Hi and welcome back! I’ve got a second card using the newest Kawaii Cuties stamp and die set, which is called We Will Rock You. I decided to make a background with 2 of the stamps, repeated over and over again, and then to use them as a focal point as well. Since this set is music themed, I grabbed some old sheet music to use too.

I started my background by spraying some of Strathmore’s Smooth Bristol Cardstock with Kitsch Flamingo, Salvaged Patina, and Villainous Potion Distress Spray Stain. I liked how it looked, but it was too bold for then stamping my small Kawaii Cuties on top. I needed to tone it down a bit. So I sprayed it with the new Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Spray, and it did exactly what I wanted. Subdued the colors without really altering them at all. This gave me the perfect ground to stamp the acoustic guitar and the pick. I stamped them with VersaFine Clair Inks in Fantasia and Purple Delight.
I stamped an extra guitar and pick on Canson Mixed Media Paper, colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, and used the coordinating Outline Dies to cut them out. I needed to ground them, so I took some old sheet music and sprayed it vigorously with Distress Oxide Sprays in Villainous Potion, Salvaged Patina, and Crackling Campfire. I love that you can still see the notes, but they’re not overpowering. I added a heat embossed sentiment to it, then I matted the sheet music strip with houndstooth paper from Stamp Anniething’s Retro Kitchen Pad. I inked the edges of my card base with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide.
It might be a little intimidating to try and use such small stamps on a big card. But if you create backgrounds by repeating the images, you can quickly fill the space and make it impactful. Then by highlighting those same images somewhere on the card, you create a cohesive and fun project. Be sure to check out the full line of Kawaii Cuties over at the Stamp Anniething shop. I encourage you to join the Stamp Anniething Stampers group on Facebook too. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
