Acoustic Waves

Hello! I say often that it’s great to have a supply of backgrounds and colored images at the ready for when you need a card quickly, or you feel like creating but you don’t have a lot of mojo. My card today had a background that I didn’t love, plus a stamp I had colored over the summer, but never got around to using. I got to feature the new Acoustic Waves stencil from A Colorful Life Designs on it and it tied the not-great background to my stamp from The Greeting Farm perfectly.

If you look really closely, you can see hints of the Aquatic Floor stencil. I had smooshed a bunch of colors and inks on the background, and was trying to get an impression of the positive image of the Aquatic Floor. I didn’t have enough ink on the stencil, so I let it be until I was ready for it. When I was going though my stash, I knew Acoustic Waves would be perfect, so I inked it with VersaFine Clair Ink in Purple Delight. I like to use a cosmetic sponge to apply these inks over a stencil.

The colors of the background now went perfectly with the way I colored Gift Ian from The Greeting Farm. I used mostly the newest colors of Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I love that big chunk of green in his hair. It really looks like I made these elements at the same time, when it was actually months apart! I cut out a “dude,” (one of my most used word dies) from CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp using a dark turquoise cardstock and green patterned paper. I also added a sub-sentiment from the Tiny Words stamp set, also from Simon Says Stamp. I put everything on to a gray card base.
