Three Circles

Hello! I have been loving the Neuro Art themed stencils that came out this month from A Colorful Life Designs. So much, that I have been starting to learn about it so that I can make it myself. Today, I used the Three Circles stencil to create an art piece. I opted to not turn this into a card, because my husband saw me working on it and fell in love it with just as it was, so I decided to leave it full size and give it to him.

The Three Circles stencil is a 6×6, and I sprayed the back of it with Pixie Spray from Therm O Web to help keep it in place. I knew I wanted to paint it with metallic watercolors, so having the low tack on the back was really helpful. I applied the stencil to a piece of 5×7 Shizen Black Watercolor Paper Smooth. I wanted to define the circles, so I decided to use warm colors for them and the rest of the stencil was to be painted in cool colors.

I grabbed my set of 12 Finetec Pearlescent Watercolors and my Kuretake Starry Colors palettes and began to paint. I have to say, it was so relaxing just filling in these spaces with such beautiful, shiny colors. I enjoyed the process immensely. I was very careful to not let the color seep under the stencil. Thank goodness for that Pixie Spray! It made it much easier. I thought quite a bit about how to finish the piece off once it was dry, but again, since my husband loved it, I didn’t cut it or do anything except add a metallic piece if green fiber around the bottom to fill in the space a bit.

The whole batch of Neuro Art stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is really so much fun to work with. I just want to keep coloring them.
