Hello! Have you ever seen a blue mushroom in real life or in photos? They are beautiful and look so magical. They’re also thought to be poisonous. But after mixing some embossing paste with blue paint and stenciling it through the Multi Dots stencil from A Colorful Life Designs…I thought of those beautiful blue mushrooms and used them as inspiration for my card.

Seriously, aren’t they so cool? You can learn more about them HERE.
I mixed some white embossing paste with Prussian Blue acrylic paint. I applied the paste through the stencil on to black cardstock in kind of a messy fashion. I didn’t want it to be perfect. I die cut one of the mushrooms from Tim Holtz/Sizzix’s Funky Foliage die set out of white and then I colored the pieces with Copics. The fern was die cut out of gray cardstock. I added a fine splatter of Snazzy Sparkle from Lindy’s Gang (use code P6GKPI07KTCTAV to save 10%) before I grounded it on the panel with a trimmed circle made from vellum.
The panel was too small to be a full card front, so I added a left over strip I had used alcohol ink on (with some touches of foil). I also added some shimmer to the base with Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Frost. I love that there are little surprise bits of sparkle and shine depending on where you look ad how you move the card.
There’s a lot of fun elements on this card, and I love how it all came together. The blue mushroom is unexpected, but it’s so pretty.
