Greetings! Today’s card has some interesting effects, one of which I didn’t anticipate. I grabbed yet another old background I made ages ago (it feels so good to be working through them) and thought it would work really well with the new Rungs stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.

My background was made using a textured black cardstock and rubbing assorted colors of Distress Oxides on it. Truthfully, I don’t recall what colors I used, but it looks like it could be Kitsch Flamingo and Salty Ocean, but I’m not positive. The texture of the cardstock gave the inks a cool sort of 80’s vibe that I really liked, but I had no idea what to do with it until I got the Rungs stencil.
I used a Pearlescent Embossing Paste from Dreamweaver, which unfortunately is not available anymore, but you can substitute The Crafter’s Workshop Stencil Butter in Pearl White. The Rungs stencil enhanced the texture of the cardstock in a funky way, adding to that 80’s feel. As the paste dried, I realized that it started to soak up the color of the Distress Oxides below it. I loved that little surprise! It didn’t overpower the pearlescent paste, just made it look more integrated into the piece.
I topped the card off with a die cut sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio made with a pale blue foiled cardstock and vellum. My panel was a bit smaller than what I usually use on my cards, so I shifted it to the left and inked up the right edge with some Delicata Ink in Silvery Shimmer.
I don’t know about you, but I am getting total Max Headroom vibes from this card. I think it came out pretty rad. I hope you’ll check out the new release from A Colorful Life Designs.
