Hello! I’ve got a fun wintery card today that uses the new Chunks stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. I have been trying to go through my stash of colored images and backgrounds lately and use up what I can (so that I can make more, of course!), and I was lucky to find not only a background I had started but also an adorable penguin I had colored ages ago.

I started off with a roll-off print from a time I was playing with my Gel Press. It had a nice combo of blues and greens, so that helped me figure out what to do next. I took the Chunks stencil and inked it with a turquoise ink. I didn’t think it had enough impact, so I went back and added a Stickles Gel that is very similar to THIS one. That was just what I needed.
While rummaging, I found this penguin from Dilly Beans. Unfortunately, that shop is no longer open. Many moons ago, I had colored it and then accidentally flicked a bunch of color on it while working with something else. Instead of tossing the penguin and calling it ruined, I saved it for a later date. Well, that day has come and I thought it looked really good with this background. I added “miss you” die cut from Simon Says Stamp and a few hearts to mimic the heart on the penguin. I inked my card base with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink and some deep red ink.
Even though the elements on this card are kind of random, I think it all went together well in the end. It’s a cute card that can be sent anytime…it certainly doesn’t have to be only during the Winter. I hope you’ll check out the new release from A Colorful Life Designs.
