Aquatic Floor

Hello! I’ve got another card for the collaboration between A Colorful Life Designs and Doodles Paper Playground. I’m having so much fun with his release, and I hope you’re getting lots of ideas on how to combine stencils and Sparkle Blends.

I am loving the new 6″ x 9″ Aquatic Floor stencil. It’s the perfect size to make 2 backgrounds at once. I sprayed the stencil with Pixie Spray and adhered it to watercolor paper. The technique I did here uses a lot of water, so I find that watercolor paper is the best option. I broke out the Ken Oliver Color Burst in Caribbean Brights and tapped the Lime Green, Turquoise, and Chartreuse all over the panel. Again, make sure your stencil is really stuck to that paper. Then I sprayed the heck out of it with water, making those powders explode with color. I used a brush to move the color in a few spots, but I mostly just let it do it’s own thing. Once it dried, I removed the stencil. The color seeped under a few spots, so I used a White PITT pen to go over them to lighten the ink.

Now it’s time for those gorgeous Sparkle Blends. I opted to go with the new Tropical Blend because it works so perfectly with the Aquatic Floor stencil. There’s yellows, oranges, and pale blues. You’ll find some fun shapes in it too. And since I’m crazy about Infinity Shakers because not only do they shake really well, but they show off your entire background, that’s what I made. I really didn’t want to cover any of it up with a sentiment, so I used the “Hello” top die only from Pinkfresh Studio’s Classic Word Dies in a dark green.
