Hello! I’m not just a crafter… I love art too. Going to art museums is something I really enjoy, and I loved my art history classes in college. Henri Matisse was an amazing painter, and I admire a lot of his work. Seeing some of it in person has brought me joy. So when I saw the “Matisse Elements” stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, I knew I needed to work with it. I thought it would look fantastic with the “Sea Foam” stencil, to create an abstract underwater scene.

I chose 3 of the Matisse Elements from the stencil (there are a bunch on there!) and inked them up with Saltwater Taffy and Twisted Citron Distress Inks, plus Elderberry Memento Ink. I fussy cut all 3 out. For my background, I inked up the Sea Foam stencil twice…once with Salvaged Patina, then with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.
I thought it would be fun to make this a shaker, so I grabbed some tulle (for added texture) and the Pineapple Garden Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I love the colors in this Blend, and they all went really well with the ink colors I used for the stencils. I added a sentiment from Pinkfresh Studios’ Classic Word Dies and kept my card base completely white. Shocking, I know. I even left the area behind my shaker window white. I just didn’t think this card needed anything else. The stencils and Sparkle Blends were enough this time.
Aren’t these colors fabulous together? They’re spring-y, happy, and definitely make me smile. I’ll have another card using both of these stencils together again soon, using different colors, and with no shaker window. I hope you’ll come back to check it out. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the hundreds of stencils that are available. There are so many amazing stencils that are unlike any you may have seen before.
