Hi! Today’s card uses the awesome Organic Doodles stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. This is a 6×9 stencil and it is fantastic to work with. I really wanted a watercolor look to help create a sense of movement. I decided to go with some powered color that activates when sprayed with water. It’s so much fun to work with, and the effects are exactly what I was going for.

I sprayed the back of the stencil with Pixie Spray to keep the stencil in place and to try and avoid having too much water flow underneath it as I worked with it. Then after I applied the stencil to my watercolor paper, I sprinkled on some Color Burst in Lime Green, Tangerine, and Turquoise. You don’t need to add much of this powder to get big results. It’s better to add less than you think you need, and then add more later.
I love the vibrancy of the Color Bursts. And because I used Pixie Spray, the parts under the stencil didn’t have any liquid flow underneath. I let the piece dry, then I removed the stencil and cut the panel in half. It’s wonderful when you can get two panels from one stencil. I added a sentiment from Erin Lee Creative’s Color My World stamp set, which I colored with Zigs. I trimmed it out and matted it with black cardstock. I also inked the edges of my white card base with Nocturne ink, and I added a few sequins from Doodles Paper Playground.
I think this card is so cool. And although it might look like a lot of work went into it, it was really very easy to make.
