Hello! I love irises. I have always had them growing in my garden, even as a child. So when I saw that there was going to be an Iris Stencil released from A Colorful Life Designs, I knew I had to have it.

I adhered the Iris Stencil to Smooth Bristol Cardstock with Pixie Spray. Then, with different sized blending brushes, I applied Distress Inks to the stencil. The foliage was done with Mowed Lawn, the flowers were done with Villainous Potion, Wilted Violet, and Kitsch Flamingo, and the background was done with Tumbled Glass. I tried to be fairly neat with the colors, but I wasn’t too worried if I got a bit of color into an area I didn’t want it. I added some color outside of the stencil, so that when I cut it out, the outline of the stencil was there.
I found a really old pink lattice cardstock that worked with the stencil, and I die cut a simple “hi” with purple paper.
I kept the focus solely on the stencil. No extra “stuff,” just that beautiful stencil. What colors would you make the irises? Next time I may swap out the pink for yellow. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the hundreds of stencils that are available. There are so many amazing stencils that are unlike any you may have seen before.
