Hello! We are getting closer and closer to my favorite time of year. Not that I am rushing the summer…but the anticipation of Halloween (especially since it’s on a Sunday this year and last year was so difficult), really gets me in the “spirit.” Doodles Paper Playground came out with their newest release on Thursday, and it’s filled with all things Fall and Halloween. The Sparkle Blend I used today is called “Spider Silk.”
I knew as soon as I saw Spider Silk that I wanted to use this Catherine Pooler die set with it. It’s called the “Cobweb Mini Cover Die set” and I knew it would help me make a spooktacular card. I die cut it out of black textured cardstock, which i then rubbed with a thick silver paste (similar to Rub ‘N Buff) to highlight the texture. I added white highlights with a Posca Pen to the “boo” and found some fun spiderweb paper from DCWV to back my shaker with.
Here you can see the fun polka dot and Greek Key patterned sequins and some of the clay web bits that are in Spider Silk. I also added some of the new Neutral Flat-backed Rhinestones. In addition, because I didn’t want to use my entire packet of Spider Silk, I added some glitter fragments from my personal stash to “bulk up” the shaker. So all of those silver bits are not a part of the Sparkle Blend. But adding some of your own glitter to Sparkle Blends is a great way to stretch your supplies! My card base has a cool black and white patterned paper in it, and I used a bit of glittery washi tape towards the bottom of the card for additional sparkle.
This card came together so fast because there was nothing to color, nothing to color match, and the shaker was a simple rectangle. It’s just perfect for Halloween. Please be sure to visit the Sparkle Blends Shop on Esty to see the all of the available Sparkle Blends, as well as joining the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on Facebook.
