Greetings! It’s Tuesday, so it is my turn to post for the Halloween series ‘Till Death DO Us Craft. For the month of October, the 7 participants will be posting on a specific day of the week, with everyone posting on October 1st and Halloween. It’s a month long celebration without a time consuming hop. I will have the links to all of the talented ladies at the bottom of this post. On October 1st and Halloween, we will also be joined by Mona Toth. We will be sharing our projects on different social media platforms, so the easiest way to find them all, besides the links below, is by searching our hashtag, #TillDeathDoUsCraft .
My card today was inspired by my friend Terra, who used Alcohol Lift in one of her videos for this Halloween series.
This was my second attempt at working with the lift ink. The first time I didn’t use Yupo paper, and I wasn’t happy with the results. But I love how it turned out here. I used my 2 favorite Ranger alcohol ink colors, Pitch Black and Eggplant. I swirled them together using a combination of Blending Solution and Isopropyl Alcohol and after it dried, I stamp my cat (from Recollections) and sentiment (from Basic Grey).
After buffing off the excess ink, I was left with these fantastic ghostly images. I found that in a couple of spots where the Pitch Black was darkest, it didn’t lift very well, so I experimented with my Copic Blender pen and it worked like a charm! I recently watched Jennifer McGuire’s latest video that featured Perfect Pearls with VersaMark ink. I had forgotten all about this technique, so I broke out one of my purple Jacquard Mica Powders and applied it over the VersaMarked image of Stampendous’ Mixed Mesh 6″ x 6″ stamp. Since I don’t believe these powders have a resin in them like Perfect Pearls, I did spray a sealer on top to preserve the image. You can see it in the photo above, but it is really hard to capture in a picture.
I love how simple this card was to create. Simple, yet spooky. I really like the two combined ghostly images. There are other skeleton animals in this stamp set, and it would be fun to create a set of them. Below is the full list of talented Halloween-loving crafters that I will be creating with during the month. Please visit everyone and show them some love. Thanks so much for stopping by. I’ll have my next #TillDeathDoUsCraft post next Tuesday. Have a spooktacular day!
