Spooky Vampire

Uncategorized

12 Sep

Greetings! Today is Day 2 of the Sassy & Crafty and Brea Reese collaboration! I am having so much fun combining products from these two companies. I was really excited to play with the Watercolor Creams that were sent to me, so that’s what inspired this project.

I gessoed some cardstock, and after it dried, I scribbled on the black and red Watercolor Creams on. I spritzed the background with water, and then used my finger to blend them together. I dried it with a heat tool so that I could move on to the next step. I placed the Web Stencil from Sassy & Crafty on the background and wet a rough textured brush. I scrubbed the brush in the negative spaces of the stencil to help lift the color. Normally, I just wet a paper towel and rub it over the stencil, but this stencil has some very small areas, so I thought the brush would be easier to use, and it was. I blotted up the area with a paper towel.

I decided that the vampiress from the new Sassy Girls- Spooky stamp set was exactly what this background needed. I colored her with Copics. I didn’t think she stood our enough against my busy background, but I didn’t want to just give her a mat. Instead, I decided to tear strips of gray cardstock and splatter them with a black ink. I also splattered my gray card base.

One thing that I really love about the Sassy Girls stamp sets are the bold words that come with them. The font is perfect for many things, including showing off a cool embossing powder. I used Aged Black from Stampendous on this, which is a mix of various black, gold, and silver bits that melt into a thick, shiny enamel. I added some silver highlights with a metallic marker directly on the background to help the “Spooky” stand out even more.

I love the eerie, almost misty-looking background with the crisp image of the vampiress. Pairing Brea Reese with Sassy & Crafty has been a lot of fun, and I will be using these companies together again, for sure. Please visit the Sassy & Crafty Blog for more amazing creations with these two companies. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
