Greetings! I love bats. I love bats all year….not just for Halloween. But, I get to share my fondness for them a little bit more often when it’s so close to Halloween. Sassy & Crafty came out with a Halloween Scene stencil that I think is so cool, especially because of the huge colony of flying bats!
I started off by creating a mono print for my background, using Distress Oxides and alcohol inks. I used grungy, autumnal colors, like Wild Honey and Stormy Sky. After my monoprint was dry, I applied the Web stencil from Sassy & Crafty with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide.
Next, I stamped the “Spooky” from the Sassy Girls- Spooky stamp set with VersaFine Ink in Onyx Black. I then positioned the Halloween Scene stencil so that the bats would appear to be coming out of the “S.” I inked that up with Onyx Black ink as well. I created my card base out of cream cardstock, and inked it roughly with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide.
I love the different colors that are popping in and out of the background, plus the various patterns that appear and disappear from the monoprinting. And the stark black of the sentiment and the bats is such a cool contrast. This was a really fun card to make because I love combining monoprinting, stenciling, and stamping all on one card. Be sure to check out the Sassy & Crafty Blog to see more fun projects. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a spooktacular day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
