Hello! Sometimes, having a good challenge can take you right out of your comfort zone. That’s what happened with my card for today. Laura Weed, who runs the Design Team for Stampendous, challenged me to turn a gnome into a witch, using the Gnomes and Friends die set. This really was a challenge because there’s not a whole lot of “parts” to the gnomes, so I needed to come up with a way to make her look witchy.
Of course, she needed a black hat, which I added some clear Sparkle Marker to so that she shines (you can see it in the next photo), and I gave her a purple outfit. At Laura’s suggestion, I even gave her a little wart on her nose. But, she needed more, so I also gave her a little black cat. He needed googly eyes, so I thought that added to the fun of this card. I also cut down one of the tails in the die set to make it work for this fella. But….it wasn’t enough.
I decided that instead of making a scene behind these two characters, I would create an all-over background using some of the new stamps from Stampendous. The Corny Candy had a perfect witch hat, and I needed to use that big candy corn stamp too. For my sentiment, I chose an appropriate one from the Frightful Gift stamp set.
I added some purple to my card base, and that was that. A gnome turned into a witch, her little fury familiar, and a fun background. It was fun to experiment with the Gnomes and Friends die set. What else could I have done to make her look more like a witch? Do you like to experiment with your dies this way too? I’d love to read your ideas. In the meantime, be sure to visit the Stampendous Blog to see what has been happening over there. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
