Take Us to Your Cake

Greetings, Earthlings! Today I have a fun card using the new “Nebula” Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground, along with Lawn Fawn’s Beam Me Up stamps. I also created my entire background, which was a lot of fun!

This is the first time I’ve used the Nebula Sparkle Blend, as well as Beam Me Up. I knew I wanted the beam from the space ship to be my shaker window, so I stamped my aliens, ship, and cake (not the floating blue alien) on to my background panel and colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers. Then I created my moon, also with the Zigs. It was fun to make the craters. I wasn’t sure if I would get it to look right, but I think I succeeded.

I watercolored my sky with Koi watercolors from Sakura. I also splattered some Moonlight White Brilliance Ink (a few drops of reinker) that I watered down to create stars. My shaker panel was popped up with Brustus Monroe foam tape, which is super thick. I wanted my floating alien to be at a lower level from the panel, but not flat so I used a couple of foam squares from Scrapbook Adhesives. This put the alien at the perfect height. Look at all the cool and unique sequins, beads, and Fimo pieces in this Sparkle Blend! I didn’t even add all of the varieties that are in it on to this card. This is such a unique Blend, and it has totally become my favorite. It’s important to note that the area behind the shaker window was colored, but significantly lighter than the rest of the card, so that it looked lit up.

I think that perhaps I should have also cut out the area where the beam meets the ground, and just redrew that back line in. Because technically, the shaker bits should be able to go there. But, that’s ok. Next time. My sentiment was white heat embossed on black cardstock, which makes it stand out nicely.

This is a fairly small shaker for me, but Nebula is so vivid and interesting, I don’t think that the small window will diminish how amazing this Sparkle Blend is.
