Hello! I am thrilled to officially start my term on The Rabbit Hole Designs DT with the April New Release Blog Hop! You should be coming from Donna’s Blog. This release is so up my alley, and I hope you love it too. It’s all based on traditional tattoos. Today, the team is debuting 2 brand new stamp sets, and I’ve got projects to share using both of them. My first project uses the Dice & Diamond Tattoo, but I opted to make something other than a card.
*Make sure you get down to the bottom of my post for a full hop link list, as well as information on a giveaway!
I love making jewelry, and I get so excited when I can incorporate my stamps into my jewelry. As soon as I saw the Dice & Diamond Tattoo stamp, I knew I wanted to use shrink plastic with it. Let me give you a size comparison.
The stamped image on the left (which will be used on a future project) is full size. On the right, you can see how small the shrunken image gets, but the outlines are so bold and crisp, that it makes for a perfect pendant.
To create the pendant, I stamped the image on to shrink plastic using StazOn Ink. I tried using my StazOn Opaque, but truthfully, it’s pretty dried out, and I need to get a re-inker. So I had to re-stamp with regular StazOn. I then colored the image with different brands of alcohol markers. I just chose the colors I liked, no matter the brand. Sharpie markers and colored pencils also work really well on shrink plastic. I punched holes into the middle of the 2 hearts after I cut the image out, so that I had a place to attach my chain. It shrunk down beautifully, and now I have a fun pendant!
My second project is a card that features the new Horseshoe Tattoo. I knew right away that I wanted to use a lot of metallics on it. I stamped and heat embossed the image on to Kraft cardstock, and then painted the whole thing with a set of Fine-Tec metallic watercolor paint sets. It glistens so beautifully in the light!
I die cut around the painted stamp and then added a heat embossed border right on the edge. For more shine, I used a piece of red metallic paper behind it. I thought that my background needed some shimmer as well, so I made stripes with washi tape on my kraft mat, and painted in between the washi tape with one of the golds from my Fine-Tec sets. I also splattered Black Tuxedo Fireworks! Spray on the piece. I added a few Dragon Glass sequins from Doodles Paper Playground to the card for a finishing touch.
There’s something really cool about kraft and metallic gold. I can’t explain it, but I love the look. I think this new Tattoo collection from The Rabbit Hole Designs is so much fun to work with. I can’t wait for you to see more! I’ll have another post tomorrow, and it’s going to have lots of shine as well….but in a completely different way from my Horseshoe Tattoo card.
