Happy New Year! I am looking forward to what 2020 will bring, and I hope you are too. Today marks the beginning of a whole new challenge at White Rose Crafts. Each month, there will be a “Moodboard” with colors, photos, and other inspiration to get your creative juices flowing. This month’s Moodboard has a wintry feel, with a touch of love. White Rose Crafts has also decided to feature projects that use lots of Lawn Fawn, which is easy for me, since they’re one of my absolute favorite companies. I decided to use one of the older (but a true fave of mine) stamps, “Critters Ever After.” Let’s take a look at the Moodboard, then I’ll show you my project.
I was really inspired by these colors, so I used them as my jumping off point for my card.
If you know me at all, then you know how much I adore dragons. And while I love the entire Critters Ever After set the dragons are really special to me. I decided I wanted two dragons, facing each other. But…there’s only one dragon in the set. So I broke out my Mirror Stamping Plate from Stampendous. This unique tool allows you to stamp mirror images of any stamp you may have. I used VersaMark ink for this, and while my impression came out okay, I decided that after I colored the image (with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens), I would reline it with a Micron Pen to just darken it up a bit.
I didn’t want to fuss to much with the rest of the card, since I was so happy with my dragons. So I matted them on to black cardstock and dug out an old background that I created with alcohol inks quite some time ago. The alcohol ink background reminded me of a wintry stormy sky, and I thought it captured a lot of the colors in the Moodboard. I then added a few drops of Nuvo Jewel Drops in Sea Breeze, and I die cut 3 hearts from the Critters Ever After coordinating die set (one of which is with Lawn Fawn’s Pixie Dust Sparkle Cardstock).
The new Moodboard Challenge is going to be a lot of fun. I can see how one board can give someone inspiration for many projects. Experimenting with the Mirror Stamping Plate is fun too. I will certainly be using that handy tool more in the future. If you’d like to play along with this new challenge, please head over to the White Rose Crafts Gallery on Facebook. You’ll find all of the details there. I’ll be back very soon with another new project. Until then, thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
