Hello! Today I am sharing a card using the latest Sketch Challenge from White Rose Crafts. This year, I have been trying to use the sketches as prompts for scrapbook pages, but this month I just didn’t have the time to do that, so I went with a card instead. Perhaps later in the month I’ll be able to make a page. For now though, take a look at my card.
Some time ago, I did a Facebook Live in the White Rose Crafts Gallery on Facebook, where i created a bunch of backgrounds using embossing folders. I still have a few left, so I decided to use two of them on my card. With that, I used an adorable cupcake from Doodlebug’s Odds and Ends “Dragon Tail” pre-colored die cut pack. Have pre-colored and pre-cut images is a real time saver! And since my two focal pieces in the background were already in my stash, I had this card made in about 15 minutes.
I used the “All Star Boy” embossing folder from Trimcraft for the rectangle on the left. I applied VersaMark ink to the folder, ran it though my die cut machine, and then sprinkled silver embossing powder on top and heat set it. For the Argyle piece, I did the same thing, but I used clear embossing powder and applied ink to the raised areas.
I also added a strip of patterned paper from Kaisercraft’s Kaleidoscope paper pad, attached diagonally. I thought that the card needed some more color, so I chose to ink my background with Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Inks. For some sparkle, I used a few sequins from the “Mermazing” Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I finished the card with a birthday sentiment from Lawn Fawn.
Having prepared backgrounds is always a time saver, and it’s fun to try to put them together in a cohesive way. I think this card is super cheery, which is exactly what a birthday card should be. When you head over to the White Rose Crafts shop, don’t forget to use my code, “Alison 15” to save 15% off of your purchase. And, I hope you’ll play along with this month’s sketch challenge. You can find all of the information on that in the White Rose Crafts Gallery on Facebook. Thanks for stopping by Have an inspiring day!
