Greetings, crafty folks! I’ve got a shaker card to share with you today that features the Unicorn Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground. I went very clean and simple with my last shaker, so I decided to go a totally different route with this one.
I have this really old stamp from Judi Kins of this funky lava lamp. It’s just begging to be turned into a shaker, don’t you think? So I pulled out my stash of Distress Oxide backgrounds to see if there was anything I liked for this stamp and I came across this brightly colored, very watery-looking piece. It has a lot of movement and the colors worked perfectly with the Unicorn Sparkle Blend, so that’s what I decided to go with. I stamped the lamp with VersaFine Claire ink on to the background and cut ut the center with an X-Acto Knife.
I built my shaker quickly with foam tape and added the Sparkle Blend. I made sure to get some Fimo pieces in there, like the green smiley face. I love how colorful and opalescent this Blend is! It really is my favorite one. I backed the shaker with a scrap Distress Oxide background, and then I realized I forgot to add my sentiment. Oops! Thankfully, with the amount of foam tape that I added to my background, it wasn’t a problem stamping on the surface. I used the Storybook Alphabet from Stampendous.
I wanted a little more shine on the front of the card, so I added a few additional sequins with On Point Glue from Imagine. I added my background to a white card base and called it a day. Since the background was made ahead of time, it took hardly any time at all to make this card.
I encourage you to go through your stamps and see what portions you can remove to turn them into shakers. I bet you have many stamps you can use for this technique! I have been having a good time trying to look at my stamps in different ways so that I can make them shakers.
