Elegant Thinking of You Card

Hello! The new Lapping Waves Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is great for water-themed cards, but it really reminds me of agate, marble, and other stones with striations. I thought it would make a really modern background when paired with some of the elements in Spellbinders‘ Containers & Foliage Die Set.

I had a monoprint that started on my Gel Press, then I wound up using it as a roll off print. A roll off print is the paper you use to clean off your brayer. You’re rolling off the excess paint onto it, and it can create some incredible layers. This particular print has lots of green and some purple, which is why I chose the colors I did for the rest of the card. It also has a ton of amazing texture. I wish you could feel it! This is from all the layers of acrylic paint. I placed my Lapping Waves Stencil on top of the print and applied VersaMark Ink with a sponge dauber. Then I used an ultra fine gold embossing powder and heat set it. It really makes this print stand out!

I chose some green cardstocks that worked well with the background for my foliage. I really wanted to pull out those subtle purples from the background, so I chose 2 shades for the vase. I really love the modern vibes of the Containers and Foliage Die Set. It’s an easy one to work with too…not fussy. I did a touch of ink blending on the leaves to give them some depth with Sage Ink from Catherine Pooler. Then I used the Layered Thinking of You Die Set from Spellbinders with a dark green cardstock for the shadow layer and gold for the focal. I added dark green ink to my card base.
