Hello! A few months ago, I was in an art supply store with my family, and I pointed out a set of Granulating Watercolors from Kuretake. I’ve wanted them for a while because they’re so unique. My son put the info in his phone, and made sure to buy the set for me for Christmas, which was so sweet and thoughtful. I’ve been playing with them a little, and I thought they would be perfect to use as a sky with the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for January 2026.

These watercolors are really special because of the “granulating” qualities. There are multiple colors in the pan, and depending om how you apply the watercolor, you can get different effects. This makes them just perfect for sky paintings, and that’s what I did with the Aurora Red, No. 771. I used a Cold Press Watercolor Block from Blick to apply my color. I die cut the flower border out of black cardstock to be silhouetted against my sky. I also splattered a bit of Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed Proof White for stars.

Next I die cut the postage stamp/polaroid die out of white cardstock, and I inked it a bit with Cashmere and Serene Ink from Catherine Pooler. It needed something else, so I embossed the piece with the Scribbled Letter Embossing Folder. Then I inked the raised areas with Antique Linen distress Ink. I inked my white card base with a layer of Cashmere Ink, and then more Serene on top. My sentiment is from the Wonder of Oz BetterPress Sentiments and Die Set. I added Cashmere Ink to that as well so that it wasn’t so stark.

I am so in love with this card. I adore the sky that was created with the granulating watercolor. I painted a few other panels with the other colors from the palette to make additional skies. I might just remake this card for each of them because it came out so pretty. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
