Hello! One of the techniques I’ve been doing most often in 2026 is taking monoprints I’ve made with my Gel Press and stenciling on top of them. Today’s card is another example of that. I had an alcohol ink monoprint that had fabulous colors but not much definition, so I used the Pinwheel Illusion Stencil from A Colorful Life Designs on top.

The background had beautiful, muted shades of greens, grapes, and sand all over but they didn’t really have a focal point, so adding a funky stencil on top was a great way to add one. I used an opaque turquoise powder (after applying VersaMark Ink through the stencil) and heat set it. You can still see those beautiful colors, but there’s a really cool top layer now too.

I chose a sentiment from Concord & 9th’s Checking In Stamps & Dies, which I inked with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide and stamped onto a cream cardstock. I inked my card base with the same color. I also added some Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs (I’m sorry, I forget which color) to add some shine.

I love these colors together, and this stencil is so fun. I forgot to mention, it’s a 6×9″ stencil, so you can make bigger projects with it easily.
