Hello! Happy October! I have my usual A Colorful Life Designs release YouTube video and blog post up, but I know there’s going to be so much I want to share with you this month, I figured I’d get started sharing some projects with you too. You can check out the release video HERE. Now, onto the cards I’m sharing. I can’t explain how excited I was to see this month’s Card Kit of the Month from Hero Arts. I immediately had so many ideas, and I couldn’t wait to share them with you. I focused on the HUGE disco ball die that’s in the kit, and man, was it fun to work with!

There was no way that I was going to use anything but holographic cardstock for the first couple of times I used these disco balls. I knew they would look awesome. I get my holo cardstock from Michaels, but lots of companies have their own.

To start, I die cut the disco ball and then I cut a solid piece by hand to go behind the die cut. I also die cut the gigantic bow that’s in the set with green foiled cardstock. Then, I cut it in half. I know…that can be scary. But it gives me the opportunity to use it on 2 cards, and it makes a dynamic design.

I love the October Cling Stamp of the Month from Hero Arts, and I was excited to pair it with the disco ball. I cut a piece of black cardstock, inked the stamp with VersaMark Ink, and then heat embossed it with a fine detail silver embossing powder. Then I used the same technique for my sentiment, which is from the Card Kit of the Month. I die cut it out then popped up my focal panel and sentiment an applied it to a black card base.

This is so festive in such a funky way! I loved how this card turned out so much, I needed to make another with this disco ball.

The two balls on the right are actually from the leftover half of the original ball. Then I just die cut one more for the left side. I also die cut a bunch of star bursts to fill in the gaps. I will say, I used the dies that are meant to die cut the stamped star bursts. I had forgotten that there are star burst dies that are stand-alone. They would have worked too.

My sentiment was heat embossed again, but this time I used a silver powder that also has holographic glitter in it. It’s tough to photograph, but it looks so cool in person. I mounted everything directly onto my black card base this time. I didn’t pop anything up or add any additional panels.

These cards make me smile, and I hope they do the same for you! I’ll be sharing more using this Card Kit of the Month soon. Please be sure to visit Hero Arts to get all of the details on the Hero Studio collection. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
