Hello! Not all monoprints come out fantastic. There are often prints that are just “meh” or even completely unattractive. But, there’s plenty of ways to work with them, and a lot of times it’s to just keep adding layers. In this case, I used the Mid Century Banners from A Colorful Life Designs.

I was monoprinting some leaves from my yard, as well as the Ornamental Trellis Stencil, which you can see a bit of on the right side of the card. I knew my ghost print was going to look great, but this layer here wasn’t very inspiring. So….I needed more layers. I inked Juniper Mist Ink from Catherine Pooler on top. Dye based inks like this are great for going over acrylic paint. Pigment inks will wipe off unless you heat emboss them.

I used a sentiment from Spellbinders’ Holding Your Heart Sentiment BetterPress & Die Set…I really love this set so much. I inked it in a messy manner with Garden Party, Melon Ice, and Green Tea Ink. I purposely made it blotchy to coordinate with the background. I inked my card base with Crackling Campfire Distress Ink, and I added a few Satin Matte Navy Card Bling from A Colorful Life Designs.

I love how this turned out. This is a great card for a guy, which I know sometimes folks struggle with making. I really get so happy when I can use a monoprint that I didn’t love and turn it into something cool. Please visit the A Colorful Life Designs website to see the thousands of available stencils.
