Hello! The La Dolce Vita Collection from Spellbinders is so beautiful. There are so many unique die sets and I have been having a blast with them. Today I’m featuring Beyond the Door, which is a truly stunning set. I’ll be honest, I was intimidated by it at first, because there are so many pieces, but it’s so that you can really customize your scene, and once I started die cutting, I realized how easy it was to put together.

I built my scene using bold-colored cardstock. I knew I wanted the scene to be vibrant and alive, so I used hot pink, deep teal, and yellow for some of my focal pieces. I did a bit of ink blending on the pink flowers, with Party Dress Ink from Catherine Pooler, using my Waffle Flower Shader 1+ Brushes.
I took some time assembling the pieces because I had to decide which I was going to use. There are a whole bunch I didn’t use this time around! I really love the versatility of this set. I inked my vases a bit to give them some depth, and I used some foam tape to pop them up. I added one of the banners from the La Dolce Vita Banner Die Set as my sentiment. I also inked my card base, but in a way that’s different from how I usually do it. Since I didn’t have a focal panel like I often do, I didn’t want to just go around the edge of the card base. Instead, I inked the upper left corner with with more Party Dress Ink, and the right side with It’s a Boy Ink.
Once I started die cutting, I realized that the intimidation I originally felt was unwarranted. The pieces aren’t particularly fiddly, and once you know how you want your scene to look, you only need to cut with the dies you’re going to use.
