Hello! I’ve said many times before, that one way to bring interest to a monoprint is by stenciling on top of it. Today I used a beautiful copper embossing paste with the Bubble Zone stencil from A Colorful Life Designs on top of a monoprint that didn’t have a much going on besides nice colors.

The monoprint was made on my 6×6 Gel Press Plate with a piece of paper from a textbook and acrylic paints. Most inks won’t dry on top of acrylic paints, which is one of the reasons I went with embossing paste. The copper paste is from a discontinued brand, but it worked really well with the Violet Iron Oxide color in my print. I also love copper with turquoise. I tore the piece down after it dried and went on to the rest of my background.
I pulled out my Encouragement Text stamp from Trinity Stamps (discontinued) and stamped it onto white cardstock. I then “aged” the paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I used that to complete my background. I needed something more happening on top, so I added a strip from a different monoprint, and a strip of brushed gold cardstock. My sentiment is from Spellbinders’ Shine Bright Sentiment Strips, which I inked with Salvaged Patina Distress Ink. I also added a seashell that I colored ages ago from a very old Stampendous set. I inked the card base with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink and called the card done.
I wasn’t going for an oceanic vibe, but that’s definitely what I wound up with. But I like that it’s not too over-the-top ocean. I think it’s a nice encouragement card for almost anyone.
