Greetings! I have a really cool tag to share that uses some of the new Vault Collection Halloween dies from Tim Holtz and Sizzix. A big thank you to Scrapbook.com for sending them to me! I really LOVE the spider web in the Vault Fright Night set. I knew I was going to be using it often, and I am excited about what I did on today’s project.

Have you watched the Netflix show Wednesday? I love the spiderweb window in Wednesday and Enid’s room. I thought using it as inspiration with some of my Distress Embossing Glazes would be fun. It’s time consuming and a little tricky, but the effect is so great. I die cut the web with Scrapbook.com’s Mixed Media Black Paper. I adhered it to a piece of vellum, and trimmed off the excess. Then, using an embossing ink pen, I applied one color of Embossing Glaze at a time, making sure to not crowd a color in any one area. I used Lumberjack Plaid, Abandoned Coral, Saltwater Taffy, Crackling Campfire, Bundled Sage, Salvaged Patina, Chipped Sapphire, and Villainous Potion. I wish I had a stronger green, like Rustic Wilderness, but I don’t have that in a Glaze. But these colors worked out fine. I used the flat end of my pokey tool to apply the powder to each section, and then I heat set it one color at a time. You need to be careful to not overheat any of the areas, or the color will start to fade.
Once I finished my Glazed web, I worked on the tag itself. I took a piece of corrugated cardboard and die cut one of the tags from the Tim Holtz and Sizzix Tag Collection die set. This is the die set I use for my swatching, so I use it often. I tore the bottom of the tag to rough it up, then I started to spray it. I used Crackling Campfire and Villainous Potion Distress Spray Stain, and then I topped them off with Lost Shadow Distress Oxide Spray to mute them a bit.
As the tag was drying, I die cut the “fright” and one of the bats from the Vault Gothic Portraits die set, out of Black Mixed Media Paper. I applied VersaMark to the pieces and then applied many layers of Clear Embossing Powder to get a thick, glossy finish. I was originally going to use Glossy Accents, but I ran out. I adhered everything with Artis Craft Glue and then added some orange Velvet Trim to the tag.
While it took a good deal of time to colorize the web, I had a lot of fun doing it. I think the whole thing came out really cool. I should make tags more often. Thank you again to Scrapbook.com for sending these awesome dies to me. Be sure to visit them to see whole Vault Halloween Collection from Sizzix and Tim Holtz. There’s even a Bundle option if you love them all. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
