Sweet as Honey

Greetings! I have a bee and honey themed card today that uses the Double Honeycomb stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. This is such a cool stencil, and it’s very different from any honeycomb stencil I’ve ever seen.

I started by inking the stencil on white cardstock with my beloved Pocketful of Sunshine inks from Altenew. I seriously love these yellows. I used the 3 lightest shades, starting with the palest in the top right corner, and working my way diagonally, switching to darker shades as I went across and down. In the lower left corner, using the darkest shade in the palette, I inked up the honeycomb stamp from The Greetery’s Buzz-Worthy Sentiments Stamp Set.

Next I inked up the jar from the Honey Jar stamp set, also from The Greetery. I used the same 3 inks I used for the stenciled background. I went over the word and highlights of the jar with a white Uni-ball Signo gel pen to help them stand out better. I wanted some dimensional honey coming out of the jar, so I grabbed the Gold irRESISTables from Imagine and dripped some on, after I used the coordinating Honey Jar Die Set to cut it out. I die cut an additional jar out of a deep gold and the honey dipper out of Kraft cardstock. I added some faux honey to the dipper as well. Grabbing the Buzz-Worthy Sentiment set again, I inked my sentiment with Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink. There’s just something about navy blue and sunny yellows, amiright? Next I stamped, colored and cut out a bee from Hero Arts’ Sweet as Honey stamp set. And of course, I inked the edges of the card base with one of the mid-tone yellows in the Pocketful of Sunshine set.

I’ve said it before, I’m really not a yellow gal. But these yellows bring a smile to my face, especially on a bee-themed card like this one.
