Hello! I was recently inspired by my friend Nicole to make this card. She’s been working on some color theory projects in her planner, playing with different combinations, patterns, etc., and her pages are coming out so beautiful. I decided to do my own spin on this and make cards, but I’m starting with single color designs. I have so much patterned paper, gel prints, ways to embellish papers, etc., that I thought it would be a fun way to explore colors and patterns.
For this card, I decided to start with orange, with truthfully, is not an easy color for me to work with. But I had some great orange papers, and I wanted to have a bold orange bird on it, so I grabbed the new Bunch of Birds stencil from A Colorful Life Designs for a bit of a focal point.

I stenciled the Bunch of Birds on a bright orange cardstock with Summertime VersaFine Clair Ink. Then, I just grabbed lots of papers that I thought would look good together, including the Tim Holtz Palette Collage Paper and some collage fodder I made. Everything was adhered down with Tim Holtz’s Collage Medium.
I tore the paper to get rough edges, I dripped some inks, and used a bit of Distress Embossing Glaze to get texture and interest on the card. I also added a few sequins from A Colorful Life Designs for additional shine from the Inferno Bling mix. If you decide to do this, just add lots of layers.
I tried not to think too much during this process. I just tore papers, laid them down, and adhered them. It’s a fun, almost meditative process that gets me really excited to make more cards like this. Please be sure to visit A Colorful Life Designs to see the many, many stencils they have to offer.
