Greetings! As I mentioned in my video yesterday, I am really excited for this month’s release from A Colorful Life Designs because the main theme this month is Halloween. There are plenty of options if you aren’t into Halloween, but if you’re like me, then the spooky stencils from the month are going to be your jam. I’m using The Eye on today’s card. Now, at first glance, it’s a beautiful 6×9 mandala stencil. But if you look closer, you’ll see eyes in it, and it is just so cool. My card isn’t Halloween-themed, but it definitely can be used for that with a change of colors.

I had a cool Gel Press print that didn’t have much of a focal area, so I decided to use it as my background. It was made with acrylic paints and I really like that it is yellow and purple, but didn’t make “mud.” I placed my stencil on top and inked it with Paradise VersaFine Clair Ink. This is a new color for me, and I really like it. To give it more substance and shine, I added a clear blue embossing powder from Stampendous on top.
I wanted the stenciled design to stand out a bit more, so I used a white Signo Gel Pen to highlight the iris of the eye and one side of each piece of the stencil. I grabbed some yellow mulberry paper (I’m really trying to make it trendy again!) and I spritzed the edges with water so that I could pull it apart and get those fabulous edges. Then I stamped my sentiment from the Tim Holtz Noteworthy stamp set from Stampers Anonymous with the same Paradise Ink. I should have left it at that, but instead I embossed it with that Clear Blue again, but it blurred it a bit because mulberry paper is so fibrous. If I were to make this again, I would have just left it as a stamped sentiment. I inked the edges of my card base with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.
I love this stencil. It’s so unique, and can definitely give off a slightly creepy vibe if you want it to. I’m going to have fun playing with this one again.
