Hello! Today is the release of many new products and collections from Spellbinders, including House Mouse, Stampendous, Simon Hurley, and more. I’m really excited to be sharing some of these products with you over the next few weeks. To help celebrate these items, LV Handcrafted asked the Spellbinders contributors if we’d like to have an Instagram Hop. I was excited to participate, but I also wanted to share a blog post to explain my card in more detail. I decided to work with Simon Hurley’s Winter Wonderland stamp and die set because it’s just so charming.

I started by stamping the elements I wanted to use from this stamp set with VersaFine Clair Ink in Rainforest. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also die cut a piece of Strathmore’s Smooth Bristol Cardstock using the A2 Matting Basics set (I used the 2nd largest die). I arranged the little scene and adhered the pieces together, but I didn’t attach it to the Bristol. Instead, I marked off where I planned on placing it, after I had completed my sky.
To create the sky, I started by inking 2 lines of Twisted Citron Distress Ink with my Blending Brush. Next to the Twisted Citron, I blended Peacock Feathers, then Chipped Sapphire, and a touch of Black Soot on the outer edges of the panel. For a starry sky, I took Moonlight White Brilliance Ink reinker and added a drop to an acrylic block. Then I spritzed it with water and used a brush to flick the ink over the edge to create splatter. After it dried, I adhered my scene to the panel, then cut out an inky blue cardstock to frame around the scene. To coordinate with that, I stamped “peace” from the Winter Wonderland set with Twilight VersaFine Clair Ink.
I really love how this card came out. I adore the sky, and the sweet little monochromatic scene. It makes the sky pop even more. Would you be interested in seeing a process video of his sky technique? I’d love to know your thoughts! I hope you’ll check out the Instagram Hop that’s happening today. You can start at my IG and get the rest of the links from there. But I also have the list below. Be sure to check out the rest of the new Spellbinders collections HERE. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
