Hello! Today I’m sharing one of of the new stencils from the May release from A Colorful Life Designs. It’s called Start Stretch and it is so cool. You’ll see on my card how the design of the stencil changes, kind of like an M.C. Escher painting. It’s one of my favorite stencils from this release.

I started by rummaging through my colored stamps that I had done ages ago. I am starting to run low, so I’m going to need to have some coloring sessions soon. Anyway, I found this gal from The Greeting Farm‘s Cheeky Reboot. I decided to use her as inspiration for the card. She was colored with Copics. The stamp set is no longer available, but you can snag a very similar digital version HERE.
For my background, I found a roll-off print that I made during a Gel Press session that had teal ink on it. It needed more color, so I applied Distress Inks with my Tim Holtz Brayer to the print. I used Cracked Pistachio, Saltwater Taffy, and Prize Ribbon. Next, I inked my Start Stretch stencil up on top with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide. I used the Oxide because it’s got some opacity to it, so it would really stand out against the background. My sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s Purrfectly Wicked Add-On. I applied Spun Sugar Distress Ink to the card base.
I love using up some of the stash of colored stamps and backgrounds I’ve made over the years. Often times, I’ll make a background or color something, never knowing when I’ll get the chance to use it. But suddenly, I find it, or remember I have it, and it works purrfectly (pun intended) with my project.
