Greetings! This month, I have been getting a LOT of use out of the Pointed Lace stencil from A Colorful Life Designs, because it’s so pretty and fun to work with. This time, I did something completely different and made it look as though it was a ceramic tile. This was a blast to do.

I applied Villainous Potion, Tumbled Glass, and Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink on to my 6×6 Gel Press Plate and then pulled a print. Next, I inked the Plate with Villainous Potion Distress Oxide, laid my stencil on top, and removed the excess ink around the stencil with copy paper. Then, I pulled the stencil off, laid my first print on top, and made a new print. I loved it, but I wanted it to shine like tile. So I applied about 6 layers of an ultra thick clear embossing powder, heat setting in between each layer. When I had my last layer on, I started to bend and twist the panel, which caused some really cool cracks. This gave me the exact effect that I wanted.
You can see in the photo above just how thick and shiny the panel is. You can see some of the cracks too. Next, I tore a piece of turquoise corrugated cardstock for the bottom of the card. I die cut a “sweet” out of light teal. This die is from Stamp Anniething.
You can see more cracks in this photo.
This card came together quickly. Embossing the layers didn’t take long, since the panel stayed warm while I prepped it for the next layer. It really looks like an old tile! And I really like the smoothness of the upper portion with the matte texture of the corrugated cardstock at the bottom.
