Hello! I have been busy playing with the November stencil release from A Colorful Life Designs, and one of my favorites is the Layered Holly Wreath. It’s a great size but it’s also dainty. Plus, since it’s made of two stencils it’s really easy to make the leaves one color and the berries another.

I decided to experiment with some embossing paste. I mixed some with Freaky Franken-Lime powder from Lindy’s Gang (use code P6GKPI07KTCTAV to save 10%) to see what kind of green I’d get. I liked it, so I applied the tinted paste to some assorted cardstocks through the foliage layer of this stencil set. The one shown today, is done on Kraft. After the green dried, I mixed some Pyrrole Red fluid acrylic with the white paste and got the perfect color for my berries.
I didn’t apply the full stencil to the Kraft cardstock. I like this look a lot. I decided to do a loose fussy cut around the wreath. There was a big space in the middle, and I didn’t want to remove it, so I grabbed the Bold Tidings Mini stamp set from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous (I am SO loving this set!), and heat embossed it with white. I darkened the edges of the wreath a little bit with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I wanted to keep the card simple, so I dug through my patterned paper and found this wood panel (the snow was already on it!) from Carta Bella’s Christmas collection. It was just perfect. I added a simple twine bow and called it a day. I even left the card base white!
I really love the vibe of this card and how quickly it came together (minus the drying time of the paste). I can see making a set of these for a gift, but simply changing the sentiment used. I may need more of that pretty paper! I hope you’ll check out the full November release from A Colorful Life Designs.
