Hello! I know many cardmakers (including myself) have been making a lot of holiday cards lately, but we are still in the season of autumn, and I wanted to share at least one more card for the season. The Oak Elements stencil from A Colorful Life Designs offers many options because of it’s grand 6″ x 9″ size, and the way the designs have been laid out.

I had a gel press print that had a pretty wash of colors on it (I’m thinking it was done with Kalediacolor inks) so I embossed the chosen Oak Element with Matte Black embossing paste. While it was still wet, I tapped on some mica powders in various colors and let the piece dry. After that, I used a soft brush to remove the excess powder. I love how rich it looks! The powders I used are no longer available, but you can use Perfect Pearls, the powders from Jaquard, Arteza, or any other that’s just labeled as “mica powder.””
To add some more punch to that top layer, I ran VersaMark around the edges and heat embossed it with a champagne gold powder. I added a sentiment from Tim Holtz’s Noteworthy stamp set in Fallen Leaves VersaFine Clair ink. I thought that my brown card base needed a little something extra, so I heat embossed the bottom with a powder mix from Stampendous called Seasonings. This is one of my all-time favorite embossing powders because of the beautiful mix of metallics and black that it has. Plus, it’s really chunky so when it melts, it has a beautiful, thick pool of colors.
I love how this sentiment works so well with this Oak Element. Even when the last leaf has fallen, hope isn’t lost. The texture and shine on this card isn’t over the top, but it’s elegant and a bit grungy. I like mixing those two styles together!
