Hello! It’s finally October so my favorite month of the year has begun! Plus, it’s World Card Making Day. I decided to kick the month off with a one layer Halloween card. I’m sure you’re not surprised about the Halloween theme, but a one layer card? Me? Crazy! I was really inspired by two stencils from A Colorful Life Designs and how well they work together…and I just thought a one layer card was the right way to go.

The new Hat Fits stencil is what started everything off. It’s big and bold, and even has a sentiment on it (which I didn’t use this time). I wanted to frame the hat, so I used the Webby Frame on the outside edge first. Since this is a 6×6 stencil. I made a 6×6 card. I inked up the frame with first with Wilted Violet, Villainous Potion, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. I recommend using Pixie Spray for the Webby Frame to keep the delicate lines from shifting as you ink them.
For the hat, I did a bit of masking and inked the hat itself with Black Soot and then the ribbon with Crackling Campfire. I didn’t feel that this card needed anything else so I left it as is.
I really love making cards with lots of layers and textures, but it can also be fun to keep things super clean and streamlined. This card has plenty to look at, but it’s nice and flat.
