Greetings! Did you know that you can get custom stencils made from A Colorful Life Designs? It’s true! I went to Mary Kay, the owner, and requested a special stencil I knew I needed, but that no one would have for sale. I am a BIG fan of BTS. No, no…not “back to school.” Bangtan Sonyeondan, the K-Pop group. Now, I love most kinds of music, particularly NuMetal and Grunge, but this one K-Pop group has stolen my heart, and I wanted to make cards for other fans, otherwise known as ARMY. A Colorful Life Designs came to my recue and made me an awesome 6×9 stencil with a fan-art version of the BTS logo, as well as the ARMY logo in several sizes. Here’s the first card I made with it.

I was inspired by the cover of the Japanese version of BTS’ Map of the Soul 7: The Journey album. You can see a photo of it HERE. I really loved the flowers curling around the logo, so I decided to do my own version of that. I first traced the logo with a pencil, and then began to add my stamped flowers. I used the Wildflowers and the Bloom Bright stamps from Stampendous and colored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. I love how dainty they are.
After I finished the flowers, I placed my stencil back on the panel and traced it with a black PITT pen from Faber Castell and colored in the BTS. I wanted some drama, so I inked the perimeter lightly with Black Soot Distress Ink, to bring your eye in to the logo. I was working on Canson Mixed Media Paper, which has a wonderful texture to it, so the inking of the edges really enhanced it. Then I flicked on some gold watercolor paint from Kuretake’s Starry Colors set. I matted the panel with black cardstock before adhering them to a white card base.
I seriously love how this card came out, and I want to make more of them. I also have many other ideas on what to do with my new custom fan-art stencil from A Colorful Life Designs. If you’ve got an idea for a commissioned stencil, I highly recommend getting in touch with Mary Kay. Also, I hope you’ll check out the new release from A Colorful Life Designs.
