Retro Vibes Shaker

Uncategorized

7 May

Hello! I love using holiday Sparkle Blends for non-holiday cards. As I was looking through my stash, I realized I hadn’t used “Deck the Halls” in a while, so I decided to use it. Doodles Paper Playground has a ton of great holiday and non-holiday Sparkle Blends, but many can be adapted to use however you like.

I recently added the Retro Shape Shaker Die from Stamp Anniething to my collection. It’s really funky and I knew it’d be easy to work with. I cut the top layer with a purple foiled cardstock, then ran it through my die cutter with an old Seth Apter embossing folder. To make the embossing stand out more, I sanded the top. I also cut this top piece out of white cardstock several times to create the dimension I needed for the shaker. The other layer of the die set with done with a piece of polka dot cardstock from Stamp Anniething’s Bake Shop pack. I backed the smaller window with some yellow patterned paper from a different company. You could make that part a shaker too, but I decided not to this time.

Here you can see that I pulled all the cardstock colors I used directly from the Sparkle Blend. This is unique color combo! I needed to pull in some fuchsia somehow, so I sprayed the back of the Twinkle Stars stencil from A Colorful Life Designs vigorously with Funky Fuchsia Dylusions Spray and laid it right on to my card base. I used a brayer to be sure I had good contact. I really like the splotchiness I got in some areas. I added a sentiment from Pinkfresh Studio’s Perfect Sentiments and a few additional sequins to the outside of the card.

These are not my typical colors, but it’s always fun to experiment outside of your comfort zone. I don’t know what happened, but I wound up making a second card with basically this same color combo! You’ll get to see that card in an upcoming post. Be sure to check out the rest of the new release over at the Sparkle Blends Shop. You can use my code, “ALISON10” for 10% off of your regular priced purchase, not including Bundles. Also, visit the Sparkle Blends Fan Club on FB for more inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by.
