Hello! Today I am sharing 2 altered playing cards that I made for my husband using some Kawaii Cuties stamps and dies from Stamp Anniething. I have been working (slowly) on making him a complete deck of altered playing cards, and some of the Kawaii Cuties stamps struck me as being perfect for him.
My husband loves coffee. My husband needs coffee. So the adorable zombie sloth holding a coffee cup in the Zombody to Love set is perfect for him. There are even separate coffee cup stamps! I colored everything and used the coordinating dies on them all. I added some cream cardstock to my playing card with Tear It! Tape from Imagine. I used that tape specifically because I knew I wanted to heat emboss the edges of the card to hid further secure the edges and to give the card a cool molten look. Tear It! Tape is great for embossing and doesn’t warp when you heat it up. I inked up the edges with VersaMark Ink and sprinkled on some Seasonings Embossing Powder from Stampendous. Ya gotta heat this stuff from underneath because it’s so chunky that the VersaMark doesn’t really hold the granules very well. This took a while because I was heating through 2 pieces of cardstock.
After that, I spritzed some Walnut Ink in Java on to my work surface, then I placed the cap into the puddle to coat the bottom. Then I stamped the cap on to my card to create faux coffee rings. I added a few flicks of the Walnut Ink too. I then stamped my sentiment in Pinecone VersaFine Clair ink. After it was all dry, I glued everything into place.
For my other altered playing card, I used the Cute But Deadly set. I chose the puppy because we are dog lovers and I like the heart-shaped button for it’s eye. I did the same treatment to the edge of this card as I did with my sloth one, except this time I used Champagne Embossing Powder. Next, I stamped the pin cushion tomatoes and the pins all over the background and colored them in. I stamped my sentiment in black, adhered my pup, and called it done.
Making these altered playing cards is fun. Sometimes it’s nice to have only a small space to work in, and the Kawaii Cuties fit perfectly on them. Please visit the Stamp Anniething shop to see the rest of the Kawaii Cuties collection. I am having so much fun with all of them. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a spooktacular day!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
