Hello! Today I do not have a card. I did make something that is just as near and dear to my heart though. I made a pair of earrings. I’ve been making jewelry basically my entire life, and in recent years, I haven’t had the time to make much of it at all. But when I saw the new Lawn Fawn Heart Shaker Gift Tag dies, I knew I needed to make some jewelry.
This is a very quick and fairly simple project to make. I started off by die cutting my heart out of shrink plastic. Then, I colored the plastic using the Rich Reds Nuvo Creative Pens. I colored them twice for a deeper color. Then, using my pin tool and heat gun, I shrunk the hearts. I like to flatten them with an acrylic block once they’re done shrinking to make sure they’re nice and flat. They are pretty delicate when they are still warm, because of the preforated line, so if you give this a try, take care when they haven’t finished hardening.
Once the harts had cooled, I just started playing around with some of my beads until I came up with something I liked. I used some Swarovsky crystals, carnelian, and glass beads, along with silver findings.
This is a great little project to do with tweens. You can of course make the heats any color you like and then just have fun choosing different beads. The heart is a wonderful size for an earring, and it’s nice and lightweight. What else could you make with shrink plastic hearts?
