Craftiness is Happiness

Uncategorized

29 May

Hello again! So, I splurged. I bought myself the May My Monthly Hero kit because I absolutely, positively had to have it. It was totally full of crafty imagery and I have been wanting stamps like this for my collection. Also, I was one of the lucky folks that won a gift certificate to Therm O Web from the Stamp Junkies anniversary celebration, and I knew I just had to pair those brands together.

I started off by using the Gina K Designs Wreath Builder Template  and stamping off some of the images (with VersaFine Clair Ink in Nocturne) from the Hero Arts kit. I decided to color block the 4 sections I created, and I really like the effect. These are 4 of my favorite colors to use together, so I knew I had to push the palette as far as I could.

The Rainbow Shattered Glass Deco Foil from Therm O Web was absolutely perfect for this card. I applied it to some double sided sticky tape, backed with cardstock. I didn’t need to heat set it, or even remove the release paper. I did die cut a center square out of the panel, because it was just too pretty to hide, so I’ll use it on another card at some point. Once those top 2 layers were attached, I had to figure out my background.

I decided to use Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick, and Broken China Distress Oxides over the entire background. I inked up 4 quadrants on Bristol Smooth cardstock, and then splattered Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle all over it. This not only oxidizes the wet areas, but it adds some lovely sparkle as well. Then I attached the panel to my card base. This is a large card, by the way. The base is cut to 6 1/2″ x 10.” For my sentiment, I stamped it o to white cardstock, and decided it needed a mat as well. I tried a few different things, but ended up using a portion of the leftover square of Rainbow Shattered Glass I had die cut from the center of my square.

I love how this card turned out and may wind up just hanging it in my craft room. The Rainbow Shattered Glass Deco Foil is even more spectacular in person. I’ll have it on another project very soon. I am also having a blast with the Hero Arts kit. I’ll be back tomorrow with a new project fr White Rose Crafts. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!
