Hello! It is he final day for the Stampendous and Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L collaboration. Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L is such a wonderful company with lots of great products. They generously supply the Stampendous Design team with 3D adhesive foam squares and other kits so we can pop up the elements on our cards and bring our projects to life. On my other card for this collaboration, I used the foiling kit (called the 3D Foam Creative Embellishment Kit) and I decided I wanted to use it again today.
I really enjoyed foiling the “merry” on my other card, so I wanted to do that technique again. But I added a bit of a twist this time. I took the heart from the new Wings Die Set and die cut a piece of foam from the Embellishment Kit. I only ran it through my Big Shot machine once, so that the pieces wouldn’t fall out of the heart. I carefully pulled off the main part of the heart’s front protective paper and applied blue foil to it. Then, while keeping all of the small bits in place, I peeled away their backing and applied silver foil, burnishing it carefully to make sure there were no more sticky spots. I love the end result.
Next, I chose my background. I knew that I was going to add wings, but I wasn’t sure of the colors, so I went through the many backgrounds that I have at my desk. I chose one that I created on black cardstock, with a few colors of Distress Oxide Inks. I believe that there’s Worn Lipstick, Mermaid Lagoon, and Antique Linen. But to be honest I made this a while ago, and I’m not positive. But you can get a similar look to my background easily by just smooshing the cardstock into ink that’s been applied to a mat and sprayed with water.
Then I was able to choose my paper for my wings. I die cut the background of the wing in the same black cardstock I used the Oxides on, but these pieces are uncolored. The top layer was cut from a scrap that I had sprayed with Bahama Blue and Rose Bud Fireworks! Spray from Imagine. I added some Wink of Stella to the black layer, to pump up the sparkle, since the top layer is so shimmery. I mounted my background, wings, and heart on to a black card base, and added a few sequins from the Fairy Dust Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.
I love the look of this card. I think it’s a little mysterious and cool, with a bit of elegance. Do you want to see more? So cool how this card turned out. Glad that you enjoyed the 3D Foam Creative Embellishment Kit – one of my favorite ways to make my die cuts shine with foil. Try embossing powder and heating tool…it's heat resistant and has a wonderful effect. Thanks again for sharing your project! MargieH from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L
