Welcome to Day 8 of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween. I hope you have been having a spooktacular time. Today, I am finally doing something that is pretty creepy. At least, I think it is. Hopefully you do too.
My focal image is from A Day for Daisies. Now, they aren’t exactly known for creepy images. But I adore them. One of my favorite digi companies for sure. When I saw this image, called “40’s View,” I instantly thought of turning her into a vampire. Not sure why, but I really wanted to creep her up. I had a freaking awesome time coloring her. I used my Spectrum Noirs, and I loved experimenting with colors to give her skin that lovely shade of undead.
I didn’t want to make her a totally obvious vampire. I typically prefer to make things that force you to look twice. Like a, “Oh wait. Did I just see that?” kind of thing. So I added a wee bit of blood dripping from her lips, and I gave her red eyes. She looks pretty remorseful to me. Like she really does feel bad that she just sucked the life out of some poor fool.
My fantastic sentiment is from Create with TLC. I’d like to mention that my bat ribbon was a stark white. And with this 6×6 mini page….that just didn’t work. So I inked it up with Antique Linen Distress Ink, and it came out just the way I wanted. I hope you like my project for today. I am pretty happy with it. Especially the way she was colored. Be sure to visit the rest of the Wicked Bloggers, all listed in my sidebar. Thanks for stopping by. Have a fang-tastic day!
PS: I finished off the tile for my friend’s fundraiser. I LOVED the idea that Dogs Mom had about adding glitter to the spiderweb. And if this piece was for me, I totally would have done that. But since I am not sure what kind of sealer is going to be used for the slate, I figured I should probably steer clear of the glitter. So I used the same deep purple I wrote the “Boo” with and stippled the edges with my stencil brush. Here’s the finished tile.
Thanks again for all of the great suggestions!

Let me say I think the additional purple is wonderful. It makes the whole piece have an extra glow.
For todays card, I love the idea that you see an image and your mind sees other possibilities for her. I can see her as a gypsy or fortune teller or without the giant earrings (and blood) as an elegant female executive.
And as an executive the same sentiment could apply!

GREAT card and love the sea of red. Nice that you have to use your imagination a little to wonder what it is she did! Great lady and beautiful coloring on her.
Yes! You found what it was missing. Edges do pop the images better and a little glitz is always good.

I love that you made her a vampire! Really like that dripping blood border – can you tell us what it is please? I have a notebook with lots of little finds from the hop to add to my crafty wishlist but it helps if I have an idea of who makes it! thanks!!! mo xxx

You totally took the ADFD image way outside the box and I think it's fantastic. I love your coloring. Yeah, she looks remorseful right now, but just wait until the hunger pains hit again.
